Deathseeker - History - City Politics

The City is governed by a 6 member City Council, who in turn represent the different military and aristocratic Houses. Traditionally, 1 seat is rotated among the military Houses, while the 5 remaining seats are rotated, appointed, voted, contested or however way pleases the fancy of the current seated aristocratic Houses. The aristocratic Houses are known for their lavishness and general random extravagance, and rule the day to day domains under their care.

Aristocratic Houses:
Generally too numerous to count, with new ones appearing as quickly as old ones collapse or get swallowed by other Houses. The aristocratic Houses exist in a competitive and power-hungry environment, and can either govern over a district or specific functions like trade or masonry. Currently, there are 11 major Houses supported by numerous medium and smaller Houses.

Military Houses:
The military Houses comprise of only 4 Houses, each given a specific role within the City’s military structure. They are House Kaigen, House Ya’i, House Hansou, and House T’soin. The military Houses are generally more functional and not as power-hungry or politically involved like their aristocratic brothers, hence the City Council seat is rotated amicably among the 4 every 5 years or so. The current seat belongs to House Kaigen.
